If you would like to establish a nursing school where you can offer diplomas, degrees, or certificate programs, you must first go through the Commission’s license application process. This will enable you to obtain an initial license to operate in the State of Florida.

Normally, the process takes approximately 4-6 months to complete. It involves:

  • Submitting the completed application package (this includes all required documentation)
  • Paying for all the required fees
  • A review of the staff within 30 days of receipt
  • If any deficiencies or omissions are found in your application, you will receive a written notification from the licensure staff (applicants are required to respond to the written notification in a complete and timely manner)
  • Application will be finalized by the staff for a full review by the Commission
  • Presentation of your application to the Commission for Independent Education (if possible, a representative from your school must be present to discuss any concerns)
  • Commission decides on a verdict (application approval or denial)
